Abby and Michelle met in 2014 in a sort of "it's a small world" situation. It didn't take long after they met for them to realize they were a match made in heaven. Both working as RN's, they quickly found mutual beliefs and values around the childbirth process. After a few years as colleagues, attending many births together, and lots of coffee and salad dates later, Beloved Births was created.
"With over 15 years of combined experience attending births, our mission as birth doulas, is to empower expectant parents by helping them reach their goals for a positive birth experience".
Abby and Michelle provide childbirth education, along with continuous emotional and physical support and advocacy throughout labor, childbirth and immediate postpartum period.
Beloved Births is currently serving most areas of NJ and NYC.
Meet Your Doulas
Abby Serio, RN, DONA Trained Birth Doula
Abby's desire to serve mothers and their babies started in childhood. She has known from a young age she wanted to "help mama's and babies" but never knew what that would look like. After the birth of her fist child in 2009, she knew there had to be a better way to bring a new life into the world. She then pursued her DONA training as a Birth doula and knew this is what she was meant to do. After completing her Doula training she saw the need in the hospital setting for better care for these women and then decided it would best serve these families to also become a Labor and Delivery Nurse; this was the only role she has ever desired to be in as a nurse, and it is the only position she has ever held in the nursing field. This is her niche. Abby lives and breathes all things birth and mothering as she balances both sides of the coin as a Doula and Labor and Delivery RN.
Abby lives in Middletown, NJ with her husband and her three children. She is constantly growing in her knowledge and skill as she is actively pursing becoming a midwife to continue on with the service and strength she offers to the birthing women in her life.
Michelle Danos, RN, RYT-200hr
Michelle's passion for what she does goes beyond her years of professional experience. When she was 16 years old, she had the honor of being her big sister's support throughout her labor and birth of her first child. After living through this, she quickly realized that assisting pregnant women was her calling. She went on to graduate with her Bachelor's in Nursing in 2009 down in South Louisiana and happily skipped straight to Labor and Delivery. Not long after, she began to travel the country, using her RN skills at different hospitals throughout south, east and west coasts. Several years in, she followed her intuition to do a yoga teacher training. In 2015, she received her 200 hr RYT certification with Bright Spirits in Hoboken, NJ and began teaching prenatal yoga to expectant moms.
"I felt as though my love for yoga could enhance my role as a nurse. I quickly realized the value of connecting with moms prior to the onset of labor and felt more fulfilled when approaching childbirth from the non-medical aspect, which led me to explore the role of a doula."
She continues to use her knowledge and skills in all of her trained professions and feels that each compliment the other, allowing her to connect with moms-to-be on many different levels.
